Dr. Yusra AHMED

Yusra Ahmed is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Children’s Learning Institute at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She has prior experience as an Associate Research Professor of Developmental, Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience in the Psychology Department at the University of Houston. Ahmed’s academic journey began at the Florida Center for Reading Research and Florida State University, where she earned her doctorate in developmental psychology. Her research investigates quantitative methods for improving the measurement, identification and classification of reading and writing difficulties, as well as executive function and self-regulation. Additionally, much of her work focuses on the empirical validation of theoretical models of literacy. Her current work is funded by an R01 Award from the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development. She serves on the board of the European Literacy Network and is a faculty member of both the Texas Center for Learning Disorders and the Texas Institute for Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistics at the University of Houston.
